The Performance of a Lifetime
This blog post is
dedicated in memory of Annaleigh Smith, who at 15 months old, impacted the world
in ways few people will ever do in their lifetime. The title and inspiration
was taken from Myron Smith's post entitled, "What Christmas Could Not
Do."
On April 11, 2012 a drama played that caught the attention of the world. It began as most dramas do, with lots of behind-the-scenes preparation in anticipation of the actual performance. The only thing is, none of the actors or prop crew knew they were preparing for this drama. The curtain was closed as the day began just like all the other days as Annaleigh and her mommy awoke to smiles and giggles. Soon they trekked downstairs for breakfast and morning hugs and kisses from Lolly and Poppy. After breakfast, Annaleigh was held safe in Poppy's arms as they paced the living room in morning prayer.
As the performance drew near, Uncle Scott stopped by for a visit, leaving the door not quite shut all the way upon his departure. The ditch across the street was filled with water, ready for the performance to begin. Bishop the Poodle Dog wandered out of the house with Annaleigh and two angels following him. The angels stepped back as Annaleigh fell into the ditch, taking center stage with her Lord as the performance of her lifetime began.
The tragic scene unfolded as Redonia pulled Annaleigh out of the water and the paramedics rushed her to the emergency room. As the call for prayer went forth, the curtains opened for all the world to watch. For 36 hours, we watched Annaleigh and her Lord dance between earth and Heaven. For 36 hours, the audience cried, pleaded, hoped and proclaimed faith as we prayed. For 36 hours and forever, this angel named Annaleigh dancing in the Presence of Her Lord captured our hearts with her radiant smile, beautiful dress and big hairbow.
When Annaleigh took her heavenly angel wings and flew to Heaven, Her Lord took center stage alone. We watched the Lord Jesus as he gave the families supernatural strength, comfort and peace. So many in the audience had never witnessed this kind of performance before and were awed by it. We watched as Jesus brought people who never knew Him before onto His Stage of Salvation. We watched as Jesus reconciled with people who once knew Him but had wandered off His Stage.
Yes, this was Annaleigh's performance of her lifetime, and oh what a marvelous one it was! However, it was not Jesus' performance of a lifetime. His greatest performance took place 2,000 years ago when He left the splendor of Heaven, robed Himself in flesh and became a little baby born on earth. Not unlike the day Annaleigh was born, there was joy and celebration, amidst speculation and doubt at Jesus' birth. He lived on earth 33 1/2 years before He died on a cross, was buried in a tomb and arose from the grave three days later. His death, burial and resurrection was The Performance of a Lifetime.
He invites each and every one of us to join Him onstage. However, there is only ONE entrance to His Stage, only ONE plan of salvation. The plan of salvation can be found in Acts 2:38, a scripture in the Holy Bible. "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

See Esther's Crawl/Walk...so cute!!!
So...seriously, this is how Esther crawl-walks when she doesn't the
surface....and it's so funny to watch!!!
I kid you not, we were there for an hour and she maybe
"rested" for a total of 15-20 mins.

FEAR
You may say:
I'm scared of the dark. I'm nervous about the future. Afraid this illness will get the best of me once & for all. Will my family be saved? Unsure if my marriage will last. I'm afraid to stay home alone. I don't think I'm smart enough to accomplish my goals. Haunted by my past. Scared her words were true; she was right about me. I'm afraid I won't make an impact on them. Nervous that I won't find a mate. In constant fear of missing the rapture. Worried my child won't be saved. I suspect my wife is cheating. Afraid I will eventually give in to temptation. Have I ruined His plans for me? I've always feared an early death. I'm worried about my bills/need a better job. I never feel I measure up. I always worry of others' opinions of me. I'm living in fear of an abusive relationship. I'm scared of failure. I'm terrified of rejection. Feelings of inadequacy. I don't like decisions... What if I choose poorly? I'm scared of dying. I don't want to be alone.
But He says:
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
Fear is essentially having faith in your enemies... So have faith in God & fear not.

Satan’s meeting (read even if you’re busy)
Satan called a worldwide convention of demons. In his opening address he said, “We can’t keep Christians from going to church.” “We can’t keep them from reading their Bibles and knowing the truth.” “We can’t even keep them from forming an intimate relationship with their savior.” “Once they gain that connection with Jesus, our power over them is broken.”
“So let them go to their churches; let them have their covered dish dinners, but steal their time, so they don’t have time to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ.” “This is what I want you to do”, said the devil:
“Distract them from gaining hold of their Savior and maintaining that vital connection throughout their day!” “How shall we do this?” his demons shouted.
“Keep them busy in the nonessentials of life and invent innumerable schemes to occupy their minds,” he answered.
“Tempt them to spend, spend, spend, and borrow, borrow, borrow.”
“Persuade the wives to go to work for long hours and the husbands to work 6-7 days each week, 10-12 hours a day, so they can afford their empty lifestyles.”
“Keep them from spending time with their children.” “As their families fragment, soon, their homes will offer no escape from the pressures of work!”
“Over-stimulate their minds so that they cannot hear that still, small voice.” “Entice them to play the radio or cassette player whenever they drive.” “To keep the TV, DVR, CDs and their PCs going constantly in their home. “This will jam their minds and break that union with Christ.”
“Fill the coffee tables with magazines and newspapers.” “Pound their minds with the news 24 hours a day.” “Invade their driving moments with billboards.” “Flood their mail boxes with junk mail, mail order catalogs,
sweepstakes, and every kind of newsletter and promotional offering free products , services and false hopes.”
“Give them Santa Claus to distract them from teaching their children the real meaning of Christmas.” “Give them an Easter bunny so they won’t talk about his resurrection and power over sin and death.”
“Even in their recreation, let them be excessive.” “Have them return from their recreation exhausted.” “Keep them too busy to go out in nature and reflect on God’s creation.” “Send them to amusement parks, sporting events, plays, concerts, and movies instead.” “Keep them busy, busy, busy!”
“And when they meet for spiritual fellowship, involve them in gossip and small talk so that they leave with troubled consciences.”
“Crowd their lives with so many good causes they have no time to seek power from Jesus.” “Soon they will be working in their own strength, sacrificing their health and family for the good of the cause.” “It will work!”
“It will work!”
It was quite a plan! The demons went eagerly to their assignments causing Christians everywhere to get more busy and more rushed, going here and there. Having little time for their God or their families. Having no time to tell others about the power of Jesus to change lives.
I guess the question is, has the devil been successful at his scheme?
